Mamamac’s is a small bakery in the heart of the beautiful Ceres valley. Even before all things homemade and wholesome became a big news trend, this is exactly the way Lourensia lovingly made rusks in her farm kitchen. First for her family, then friends enquired and soon in 1995 she started supplying to a well know delicatessen. Using and perfecting traditional, family recipes she has grown the business from a one woman show to a bakery that employs 9 people and her daughters Anneke and Rina-Marie. At Mamamac’s we offer you a range of delicious biscuits and rusks, baked with natural ingredients, patience and care. We are all passionate about and proud of our products! The baked goods that started as a labour of love is now supplying a livelyhood to 9 families as well as pleasing the taste buds of all those that encounter them.
Mamamac’s is situated in Prince Alfred’s Hamlet, 10km from Ceres. It is a small family run business that is all about high quality, delicious baked goods. The recipes we use have been perfected over time and are firm family favourites. Each and every biscuit is made from quality, fresh ingredients (no preservatives!), hand rolled and cut. We believe it is this attention to detail that ensures the textures and flavours our customers have grown to expect and adore.
Lourensia is a passionate foodie that instilled this love for all things yum in her youngest daughter Rina-Marie. After training under some of the top chefs in the country, Rina decided to join the family business and has been instrumental in developing some new product lines and innovative ideas. She is a pastry chef by profession and loves to bake and delight her customers. Rina got married in December 2010 and now helps out from her new home in Stellenbosch whilst also keeping busy with her catering.
Anneke, the eldest daughter, lacks the culinary qualification, but makes up for it with pure passion! She took a break from the corporate world to spend some time in Tanzania where she fell in love with the African bush and beaches. However, home is where the heart is and Anneke is back in Cape Town and involved in the marketing side of things.
Lourensia “adopted” another “daughter” into the business – Michelle is a quantity surveyor by profession, but when a farmer won over her young heart she moved to Ceres and joined Mamamac’s in April 2012. Michelle is at her element when she can she can capture everything and anything on Excel sheets and with a creative bunch like this, it is a handy skill! But despite her organisational tendencies she is talented girl with a flair for pretty combined with practical!
Our staff all live locally and most of them have come a long way with Mamamac’s. They are just as passionate about our baked goods as we are and we could not run this business without them. With their support and commitment we have been HACCP certified which ensures that all our production, packaging and distribution methods pass very strict food safety guidelines which protect not only our customers but also the workers themselves.
